A 28-year-old mechanic, Abdulkadir Salihu, has been remanded in prison custody for allegedly abducting and raping a teenage girl for five days.
The mechanic was arraigned on a two-count charge of kidnapping and rape, before a Senior Magistrate Court 1, sitting in Lokoja.
Police prosecutor, Corporal Ubi Ubana, told the court that the uncle of the victim, Adama Ibrahim reported the matter at the ‘A’ Division Police headquarters and Department of Criminal Investigation, Lokoja on 23 October.
According to him, Ibrahim said he sent his 13-year-old niece to buy Okro from Adankolo New Layout Market, when the accused lured her to his house on Agbai Street, on 16 October, at about 1:25 pm.
He claimed that the accused after having sexual intercourse with her, locked her up in his room from 16-20 of October, to have regular carnal knowledge of her.
He stated, “During the period, he had sex with his captive for several times before releasing her on 20
October.”
The prosecutor informed the court that investigation into the case was ongoing, while urging the court to remand the accused in Koton-Karfe prisons, in view of the enormity of his offence.
In her ruling, Abdulmalik upheld the submission of the prosecution and ordered that the accused be remanded at the Medium Security Federal Prisons, Koton-Karfe and after which, she adjourned the case to 10 November for mention.
