The Super Falcons are to be received by President Goodluck Jonathan after an exceedingly impressive outing at the just concluded African Women Championship that took place in Nambia.
The Presidential gala which would be held on Wednesday, 5 November, is set to follow in the footsteps of many of such welcomes in sporting triumphs of the Nigerian national teams.
Earlier today President Goodluck Jonathan welcomed the Super Falcons in the first phase of what will be a series of welcome ceremonies before the official reception where the country will express its gratitude for excelling against all the odds in Namibia.
The minister of sports Tammy Danagogo lauded the falcons stating “You have shown skill and consummate discipline with which you have made your country proud”.
He also reserved praises for the President’s efforts in the sports sector. He added that because of the President’s support, the country was able reclaim its status as the football champions.
The Nigerian ladies beat Cameroon 2-0 in the final played last Saturday, to lift the trophy for a record seventh time in Windoek, Namibia.
